Charge your electric car at home in Central Bedfordshire, even without a driveway

Central Bedfordshire, a largely rural and suburban area in the East of England, is evolving to accommodate the growing number of electric vehicle owners by expanding its public charging network and promoting home charging solutions.

For residents in suburban and rural areas such as Flitwick, Ampthill, Dunstable, and Leighton Buzzard, where many homes have driveways or garages, installing a home charging point is both a convenient and cost-effective option. However, in more densely populated areas of Central Bedfordshire, such as Houghton Regis or parts of Dunstable, where terraced housing or flats are more common, many homes lack driveways or off-street parking making EV charger installation feel out of reach.

Our cross-pavement channel allows residents to install a cable gully into the pavement outside their home and easily charge on the street without causing hazards, and you can save around £4,000 per year compared to using public charging.

Central Bedfordshire Council started a Kerbo Charge trial in early 2024 of 20 units and it now supports approved cross‑pavement charging for all its residents.

How it works for Central Bedfordshire residents

Public EV charging can cost around £25 more per full charge than charging at home (source: Zap Map). For residents who rely on street parking, those extra costs and the inconvenience add up quickly.

Our solution offers a simple, discreet way for households across Central Bedfordshire to charge right outside their homes, without blocking pavements or changing the look of local streets. These photos highlight how seamless and unobtrusive roadside EV charging in Central Bedfordshire can be.
