Charge your electric car at home in Carmarthenshire, even without a driveway
Carmarthenshire, a largely rural and picturesque county in South West Wales, is adapting to the growing needs of electric vehicle (EV) owners by improving public charging facilities and supporting home charging solutions.
For residents in towns like Carmarthen, Llanelli, and Ammanford, where many homes feature driveways or garages, EV charger installation is a convenient and cost-effective option. In more densely populated areas of Carmarthenshire, such as parts of Llanelli or Carmarthen town centre, where terraced houses or flats are common, many homes lack driveways or off-street parking. This makes home EV charging more challenging and necessitates reliance on public charging infrastructure.
Our cross-pavement channel allows residents to install a cable gully into the pavement outside their home and easily charge on the street without causing hazards, and you can save around £1,100 per year compared to using public charging.
The first two Kerbo Charge trial sites were installed on 19 September 2024, with the remaining sites expected to be completed by the end of October.
Up to 10 locations will be included in this phase of the trial, making Carmarthenshire County Council the first in Wales to carry out trials at multiple sites simultaneously. The data and feedback gathered will provide valuable insights into how scalable these solutions are for wider adoption across the county.

How it works for Carmarthenshire residents
Using a public charger for a single charge can be around £25 more expensive than at home (source: Zap Map), meaning many people are taking risks and having to find alternative solutions when they don’t have a driveway.
Instead of adding posts or visible hardware, our EV charging solution blends into the street, letting residents charge directly outside their homes without blocking pavements or altering the landscape. It keeps footpaths clear, protects Carmarthenshire’s scenic views, and makes switching to electric vehicles simple and unobtrusive.
These photos show how our EV charger installation makes charging easy for residents with street parking.
Simple.
Residents plug into their home charger, feed the EV cable through the cross-pavement channel and plug into their vehicle on-street.
