What the survey said!
We kicked off 2026 by sending out a survey to 10,000 UK drivers about cross-pavement charging and received 3,000 responses.
We think you’ll find the results interesting - all of the respondants said they do not have a driveway.
Question 1 - how often do you have issues with public chargers?
Our take: we were surprised that such a large majority still have so many issues and shows we still have some way to go in the UK to improve the reliability of public chargers.
Question 2 - How much of a difference does a cross-pavement solution (like Kerbo Charge) make about whether you get (or already got) an EV?
Our take: given public charging is almost always more expensive than petrol it’s perhaps not surprising that over 50% of drivers won’t move to EV unless they can charge at home.
Question 3 - Assuming you can get a cross-pavement channel, how much would needing to apply for planning permission for an EV charger deter you from getting an EV?
This question provides compelling evidence about the need to change the PDR rules for home chargers.
Question 4 - Are you aware of any instances where yours or any cross pavement solution has been perceived to present a safety risk, hazard or have an impact on the use of the pavement?
Note - almost all the comments relating ‘ Yes’ to this question talk about the trip hazard from cable covers.
Our take - there were a number of comments describing concern about pedestrians tripping on cable covers, in particular elderly or more vulnerable residents. This suggests that cable covers are not a scalable solution for cross-pavement charging.
