All UK residents can now apply for a grant to support the cost of an electric vehicle charge point at home, which can be combined with a Kerbo Charge installation!

Starting March 18, 2024, the ground-breaking Electric Vehicle Chargepoint Grant is now available to households without driveways.

Aimed at making on-street electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure more accessible to UK residents, this grant has been launched to offset some of the costs of installation for EV charge points, especially those looking to integrate their charge point with a through-pavement cable cover like Kerbo Charge. This exciting news means that residents could benefit from up to £350 off!

Addressing the growing demand for Electric Vehicles

As electric vehicle uptake continues to gain traction, the demand for accessible charging infrastructure has reached an all-time high, however, the reality is that drivers find public charge points inconvenient and more importantly, very expensive compared to home charging.

Electric car charging at home has proven effective for many EV owners, however, there are still challenges for residents without off-street parking, particularly in urban areas where 60% of households don’t have driveways.

Our Kerbo Charge channel, coupled with the new charge point grant, addresses these challenges and ensures that all UK residents have access to convenient charging and up to 5-10 times cheaper costs.

This grant will empower more UK residents to take up EV ownership and support the reduction of carbon emissions, but to qualify, applicants must get permission from their local council to install a cross-pavement charging solution.

This combined approach ensures that the rollout of on-street EV charging infrastructure aligns with local council regulations and the residents' needs, creating sustainable urban areas.

Reading resident, Tim, chose Kerbo Charge to take advantage of cheaper at-home charging costs, and with the added benefit of the EV Chargepoint Grant, even more UK residents will be encouraged to make the switch to electric.

Our on-street electric car charging solution

Recent data from Zap Map highlights the significant cost difference between home charging and public charging for electric vehicle (EV) owners, particularly affecting the 40% of UK households without driveways, and our EV charging channel was created to provide access to cheaper charging costs for these households.

The Kerbo Charge channel’s slim and shallow design sits flush with pavement surfaces, ensuring minimal disruption to underground infrastructure. Installation typically takes about an hour and once installed, residents can safely insert their charging cables, with the self-closing lid preventing trip hazards. Additionally, the use of PVC for the channel offers environmental benefits, boasting a lower carbon footprint compared to metal alternatives.

Kerbo Charge is currently trialling in various local authorities including Milton Keynes, Durham, West Berkshire, and Reading, and residents can find out if they’re eligible for a channel online at www.kerbocharge.com/enter-your-postcode.
