Kerbo Charge Pavement Cable Channels goes live in Reading

Our most bendy pavement install yet

Kerbo Charge is live in Reading! We’ve installed at four locations, and one of the locations was our most challenging yet!

If you look the picture below you can see the pavement undulates - down, up and down again from the front of the property to the kerb.

We specifically designed our through-pavement channel to be able to flex with pavement surfaces during installation, whilst still ensuring the lid opens and closes effectively.

This means we don’t require any surrounding pavement reinstatement work - resulting in fast installs and a clean finish.

The picture on the left shows the undulation of the pavement before install, and the one on the right shows a tight and flush finish post-install.

Giving residents the confidence to move to electric

By 2030 80% of cars sold in the UK must be electric, however, for many residents, the decision to make the leap to electric vehicles (EVs) has been hindered by concerns about charging accessibility and affordability - especially those that don’t have a driveway. That's where our pavement-installed electric car charging channel comes into play, changing the way residents charge their EVs and ultimately boosting their confidence in making the switch.

Relying solely on public charging points is inconvenient and expensive. Public charge points typically cost five times more than charging at home (e.g a BP Pulse neighbourhood charger is 55p/kWH and a home off-peak tariff is readily available for 10p/kWH).

The Kerbo Charge cable channel is a specially designed polymer channel with a self-closing lid. It’s professionally installed in the pavement outside your home to allow you to safely run a charging cable from your house to the car. As you insert your cable the lid snaps down shut behind, eliminating any trip hazard.

The channel:

  • Is only 30mm deep so it does not interfere with street utilities – this makes for a very fast installation.

  • Is as affordably priced as possible, so it can be paid for by private residents.

We are finding our pavement-installed electric car charging channel empowers residents to make eco-conscious choices without compromising convenience or costs. This is about charging up confidence, making the switch to electric vehicles an easy and accessible choice for all.
